Ordering & artwork

What file types work best for custom patches?

Clean vector files (SVG, AI, PDF) or high-resolution transparent PNGs produce the sharpest results. Photos also print beautifully with UV printing. Not sure your file will work? Email it to sales@hatpatchsupply.com and we'll check it for free.

Is there a minimum order?

Flat UV printed patches have no minimum — order 1 or 1,000. Signature Raised™ UV patches have a 12-piece minimum. Wholesale acrylic and leather patch programs have their own tiers shown on each product page.

How fast will my order ship?

Custom patches are covered by our 72-hour shipping guarantee — printed and shipped within 72 hours of artwork approval. Pre-made acrylic patches typically process in 4-5 business days.

Materials

UV printed vs. laser engraved vs. acrylic — which should I choose?

UV printed for full color, gradients, photos, and small text. Engraved leather/leatherette for a rustic single-tone heritage look. Tri-layer acrylic for dimensional, eye-catching contrast. Can't decide? Order a sample pack — shipping's free.

Do patches come with adhesive?

Yes. Every patch ships with industry-leading heat-activated Lonestar Adhesive already applied to the back. Position on the hat and press — no sewing, no glue.

Pressing & application

What press settings should I use for acrylic patches?

Every press differs, but as a starting point: pre-heat the hat 20-30 seconds and pre-warm the patch so the adhesive gets tacky. Single platen: about 300°F for 40 seconds with LIGHT pressure. Dual platen: about 280°F top / 320°F bottom for 45 seconds, light pressure. Always test on a spare hat first.

Why is my patch lifting at the edges?

Usually one of three things: not enough pre-heat on the hat, too little press time, or heavy seams under the patch area. Re-press with firm even pressure, and make sure the patch area sits flat on the platen. Still fighting it? Email us — we troubleshoot presses daily.

Do FoundryTag interior tags need a heat press?

No. FoundryTags use pressure-activated adhesive — peel, place inside the sweatband, and press firmly by hand.

Wholesale & support

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes — our B2B Wholesale collection has volume pricing with some of the lowest minimums in the business, including acrylic, top-grain leather, and hook-and-loop programs.
